In 2025, the Port launched its Community Charity Fund, inviting funding applications from local youth and community groups for small projects that support activities in the neighbourhoods surrounding the Port. The initiative received a strong response, with the first round of funding supporting a diverse range of projects, including maintenance for the Sea Cadets’ RIB, extramural visits for neurodivergent school pupils, climbing equipment for a life skills development charity, and new gear for children’s sports teams.
Most recently we’re proud to support Merkinch Football Academy through a recent donation, as part of our community fund, that helped cover their Inverness Street League registration fees and fund a new strip for one of their teams. Thanks to this contribution, the Academy was able to enter an extra team this season – the team in blue – giving even more young players in our community the chance to take part.
We also sponsor the awards ceremony for the Highland & Moray Area Company of the Year, part of the Young Enterprise Scotland. The YES Company Programme offers school pupils a real insight into running a company. The Port’s Chief Executive is a Company Mentor and earlier this year he mentored the Fortrose Academy Team that won the UK Company of the Year and represented the UK at the European Finals in Athens.
