Inverness Harbour is a trust port run by Inverness Harbour Trust, which is an independent statutory body governed by its own local legislation and run by an independent board. It has no shareholders so all the surpluses from Port of Inverness’ operations are put back into the port.

Port of Inverness Announces Successful Applicants to 2025 Community Fund
The Port of Inverness is delighted to announce the successful applicants to the launch of our Community Fund, supporting local initiatives that make a meaningful impact to young people in the Highland capital.
The launch of the fund attracted a high number of applications, highlighting various organisations we have here in Inverness across a broad spectrum of activities that are working to improve the lives within their communities.
The successful organisations are:
Inverness Sea Cadets
18th Inverness (Muirtown) Sea Scouts
Merkinch Karate Club
Merkinch Football Academy
The Ledge
St Josephs Primary School
To date we have donated over £9,000 to support local organisations.
We look forward to seeing the positive difference these projects will make in our community and to supporting more local youth initiatives in the future.
What can be funded?
We will consider funding requests from non-profit groups and organisations for a wide range of activities and items, for example:
- New or replacement equipment costs
- One-off costs for local community groups
- Non-statutory school and nursery activities
What can’t be funded?
There are some types of funding requests that we can’t consider, for example:
- General fundraising appeals or activity
- Costs already incurred or activities that will take place before we’ve decided on an application
- Applications that don’t benefit the people who live within the areas listed.
- The repayment of loans or debts
- The advancement of religion or politics.
Religious groups can apply for non-religious activities that will benefit the wider community if it is available to all in the community on a non-denominational basis. For instance, a church playgroup may apply for funding for play equipment if the playgroup is open to the whole community.
How to make an application
Applications for small grants of £200 – £500 are invited once a year.
Next funding round to be announced
Funding decisions are made by a small panel comprising two Inverness Harbour Trust staff members and one of the Inverness Harbour Trust Trustees.
As the Port of Inverness Community Fund is limited, we cannot guarantee that all applications for support will be fulfilled.
Successful applicants will be required to provide a written quote and a receipt for equipment or services.
Previously unsuccessful applicants may reapply for future funding rounds. Applications from previously successful applicants will not be considered for further funding within 18 months.
Successful applicants will be required to take part in Inverness Harbour Trust Community Fund publicity, including photography and social media.
The panel’s funding decisions are final.
