The Variety Voyager made her fifth and final call to Inverness for 2019 on Thursday 22nd August.
This drew to a close the Port’s best ever year for cruise ship visits, with over 900 passengers passing through the Port during the period, as part of 8 separate visits.
Port of Inverness Chief Executive Sinclair Browne commented “The cruise ship visits are a great boost for City of Inverness, with a knock-on effect for the local economy and are fantastic way for the Port to directly engage with our stakeholders throughout the area. Passengers definitely appreciate arriving in the centre of the highland capital and with Loch Ness right on our door stop as well as other readily accessible attractions, makes the Port of Inverness attractive to cruise companies.”
He continued,” This is a great reflection on all the hard work by our staff – two years ago we had no visits. I was also like to acknowledge the continuing support of Tomatin Distillery. This is the second year they have supported our Cruise Ship Initiative and their presence has had a positive impact on passengers’ experiences.”
A number of visits have been confirmed for 2020 as well as 2021seasons.
