The recent sailing of the Peak Bilbao from Inverness meant that the final components for the Blairaidh Wind Farm had arrived at the port. The wind farm is situated just west of Invermoriston and when complete will have 32 turbines.
Delivery of the first 7 arrived at the port in October last year for erection prior to winter. The remaining 25 were delivered this year, starting at the end of March. This year a total of 8 vessels discharged and in addition to the Peak Bilbao other project ships included the Nordic, Peak Bergen and Peak Belfast. The tower sections arrived from Campbletown with the hubs, nacelles and drive trains coming from Esbjerg. The blades were delivered to Kyle of Lochalsh.
Commenting, Port Chief Executive, Sinclair Browne, said “We are delighted to be involved with the Bhlaraidh Wind Farm. This marks yet another successful delivery of project cargo for a wind farm and further underlines the port’s growing reputation in the renewables sector.”
