Deputy Harbour Master dons the “Yellow Jersey”

5th July 2017

Port of |Inverness Deputy Harbour Master, Gordon Mackenzie, is taking to his bike in a bid to his bit in reducing the Port’s carbon footprint.  Taking a lead from the Tour de France, Gordon has pulled on his “Yellow Jersey” and got on his bike to undertake his port inspections.  Commenting Gordon said, “When I was at Scrabster I used my bike to get around and thought it would be a good idea to do the same here in Inverness.  It is often quicker than using the Port truck.”  Gordon can be seen out and about on his bike in all weathers.

Gordon’s efforts are in addition to the Port’s Cycle to Work scheme, implemented last year, which saw one of the Port’s pilot boat crew, Roddy MacDonald, buying a bike through the scheme enabling him to cycle to and from work.

The photo shows Gordon wearing his “Yellow Jersey” along with his bike.
