Machinery for two new wind farms arrived at the Port of Inverness recently. Five ships delivered 5 complete turbines for Cairnbarrow Wind Farm in Moray and 6 complete tower sections and nacelles for the Bhlaraidh Wind Farm near Invermoriston. The blades for the latter wind farm were delivered to Kyle of Lochalsh.
The Bhlaraidh shipments represent the first cargos for this 33 turbine development for immediate delivery to site. It is anticipated that the balance will delivered in spring next year following the winter shut down at the site. Both projects are expected to clear the port by early November.
Commenting on the deliveries, Port CEO Sinclair Browne said, “These last 5 ships bring to the end for this year a very busy time for the Port of Inverness with regard to our involvement with the Renewable Energy Sector. We are delighted to continue to be able to assist wherever possible and look forward to hopefully another busy year ahead.”
