Earlier last week, the Port of Inverness welcomed the MV Westvoorne with the first renewable cargo for 2016. The vessel arrived on Thursday from Emden via Goole and unloaded mainly machinery parts for the Edintore Wind Farm in Moray. In total there will be 6 Enercon E92 turbines erected. This delivery is one of three, with the next shipment due in the middle of April and will contain some of the towers and blades.
Commenting on the arrival, Port Chief Executive Sinclair Browne said, “We are delighted to continue to play an important role in the renewable energy business and look forward to receiving the other two shipments soon.”
The Westvoorne sailed on Friday, returning to Emden. The ship is 91m long with a gross weight of 2035 tonnes and this was her first visit to the port. The photo shows the ship arriving in the early hours of last Thursday.
