The Port of Inverness has just completed the installation of a 50kWp solar PV installation on one of the storage shed roofs.
Commenting on the installation, port Chief Executive Sinclair Browne commented “We have a number of large storage sheds at the port and it made alot of sense to see how we could best utilise these areas. Not only does this installation reduce our energy costs but it also underlines the port’s commitment to renewable and reducing where possible our carbon footprint. In addition any additional electricity generated is exported to the grid for use by others.”
The installation was carried out by Forster Group based in Brechin and Sinclair added, “Forster did a fantastic job in some pretty difficult weather and the installation was completed on time.” The system is already generating electricity.
