Windfarm on the Move

Just before Christmas, the initial cargo for the Rothes wind farm extension arrived at the Port of Inverness.  The cargo comprised turbine blades and various other pieces of equipment for the windfarm.  The development comprises 18 turbines that are to be moved to the site at Rothes Cairn Uish near Fogwatt.  The initial wind farm was completed in 2005 comprised 22 turbines.  The turbine components that were shipped to the Port arrived from Esbjerg in Denmark.  Commenting on the cargo, chief executive, Sinclair Browne said, “We at the Port of Inverness are delighted to be handling this cargo and playing our part in helping the Highlands to benefit from the renewable energy sector. “
